We are so excited to hear that Master Amely was appointed to officiate at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games! Only 20 International Referees were appointed from all around the world, and Master Amely is representing the USA!
The Youth Olympic Games are an international multi-sport event for athletes between the ages of 15 and 18, and will feature 32 sports and 36 disciplines. More than 4,000 athletes from 206 nations are expected to participate and compete in Buenos Aires from Oct 6- 18th.
Thirty-two sports are on the programme at this year’s YOG and Taekwondo is one of them! Hailing from various backgrounds in sport, and including Olympic and world champions, this group will encourage the young athletes throughout the event and act as mentors during Games time. We have two athletes that qualified from the USA and will be fighting at the Youth Olympic Games in Taekwondo, Anastasija Zolotic and Sharif Salim, who will be fighting on Oct 7-8th.
Master Amely has already been there for a few days and is having an amazing time. She got a full pack of official Buenos Aires 2018 uniform and swag! She says the whole city is decorated for the event and everyone is celebrating the games. They had the Opening Ceremonies and the streets were packed with everyone coming out to celebrate the worldwide event.
We wish Master Amely the best and can’t wait to hear about all the adventures when she gets back. This is where Olympic dreams begin! Congratulations and way to represent AMYS & USA!
